   It's been awhile since I posted. It's been a busy holiday season for my family and things are beginning to slow down somewhat.  Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and all was well!  We've had a blast at the Opry.  "Toys for Tots" was a huge success, we would like to Thank Everyone who reached out and made it happen!  The Marines picked up 11 bikes, 2 trikes, 6 large boxes of toys and one huge black trash bag of toys.  They joined us for Christmas Supper at our party on the 22nd.

Good Morning!  We are having an awesome time at the Opry!  Christmas decorations going up soon, getting ready for the most Wonderful time of the year. We are collecting new unwrapped toys ... The U.S. Marines' "Toys for Tots" campaign is in full swing!  Please help us make a child's Christmas morning a little brighter this year. Here's our schedule for the month:  Sat.Dec. 1st ~ The Bootleggers ** Fri. Dec. 7th ~ Christmas Party on Karaoke night (6p.m.) ... everyone is invited! (covered dish). Sat. November. 7.

   Good Morning!  There is a lot of news to tell you today.  First, Elections for Gulf Coast Opry Officers took place on Monday night and Officers for the next year are ***President ~ Linda Walker, *** Vice President~ Mattie Wilson, ***Program Director ~ Billy Walker, *** Secretary ~ Elva Powell and *** Treasure ~ William Powell.
   Our "Toys for Tots" campaign is under way.  GCO Elves have already donated 2 trikes, a small bicycle, and some toys.  We still have a long ways to go ... Last year we donated 9 bikes, 6 trikes, 2 full size red wagons, a scooter and 2 very large boxes of toys.  Let's challenge our neighbors, friends, and family to help gather new unwrapped toys. Christmas is a time of giving and sharing ... Christmas morning there will be happy children with bright smiles if you ~ us will take this opportunity to make it happen.  We are working hand in hand with The United States Marines, and very proud to so!
   Did I mention that we raised $2003 for Cancer Awareness Research and that the Gulf Coast Opry matched the funds raised for a grand total of $4006?  GCO Kids raised $500 for Alex's Lemonade Stand / Childhood Cancer Awareness Research.  How amazing is that?  Thanks to all those who worked so hard and was dedicated to making a difference!  We have some of the most wonderful people at the Opry, who believe that we can accomplish anything when we work together...

      Good Morning Everyone!  It's already November ... yikes!  Lot's happening in the next few weeks, we have just finished our Cancer Awareness fund raiser  $4006.00 to stay right here in Mobile & Baldwin Counties, $ 500.00 to Alex's Lemonade Stand (Childhood Cancer Awareness) raised by the GCO kids.  Now it's time for our Toy's for Tots campaign.  It's so much fun to keep busy helping others. Pass it forward and sooner than later it comes back to you!  So start bring in those new unwrapped toys ... and tell your family, neighbors and friends to join us in helping our U.S. Marines this Christmas Season.
      Karaoke Friday night!  Supper Special .... home cooked meal.  Grab your neighbors and your friends, family too, and hurry on down to the Opry where every Friday night is super fun!
     Gulf Coast Opry Band this Sat. Nov. 3 ... load up the cars, trucks, buses, tractors and whatever else you can load up and let's have a party ... music & dancing and good food & friends!
     On Sat. Nov. 10th we will have Gospel Night ... featuring the Chestang Family .... If you love gospel music you will not want to miss Gospel Night ...  You will certainly be blessed!

Saturday Oct. 20th from 10 a.m. till 3 p.m. we will be hosting a BENEFIT to raise funds for Cancer Awareness.  There will be MUSIC, RAFFLES, GAMES and even a story from Cowboy Bob Kelly of Gulf Coast Wrestling fame.  We will be selling Dinners for $6 ~ Baked/Fried Chicken, Potato Salad, Baked Beans, Slice  of Cake and Tea.  You can't find lunch any cheaper!  We will be finishing up our month long fund raiser, if you wish to participate please join us this weekend.  See You There! 

There will be a Saturday Night Show beginning at 7 p.m.  the Gulf Coast Opry Band will be "Rockin' the House"

"PINK BASH"

~*~ Good Morning! Be sure to check out tomorrow's paper ... we were told that our article might be in it. If not it will be in Friday's Bay Weekend. Remember "Pink Bash" night is Saturday night, lots of fun things will be happening at the bash ~ "Flowers for Friends" ~ Lemonade~ "The Rock & Roll Goodie Strolls" and more ... Everyone try to wear ''PINK" in honor of all those who are fighting, those who have won, and those who have lost. There's not a one of us who hasn't been touched by this horrible disease! Please come out and support a great cause... Have a great time with friends and family & music, music, music! The Reed Boys along with Scott Franklin will be our guest.~*~    Also remember FRIDAY NIGHT KARAOKE!  We alway have a fantastic time!  Also the "CrockPot Supper" was a huge success ... Crock Pot Night!

   Spread the word! Saturday night will be "CrockPot" night, all proceeds will go to the Cancer Awareness Fund. Menu is as follows ~ Chicken & Dumplings ~ Chili ~ Beef & Mac ~ Red Beans, Sausage & Rice, Potato Soup. All the trimmings! Please come out and support the fund raiser. Then let's sing, dance and be happy! The 13th will be our "Pink Bash" (wear pink) lots of fun things and surprises planned. Don't forget that will be the night of the "Rock & Roll Goodie Stroll~~~   Gulf Coast Opry Band will be in the house on Sat. Oct. 6  then on the Oct. 13th  the "Reed Boys" will on the stage!  Don't forget ~~KARAOKE~~ Friday night loads of fun ... be sure join us!

Sept. is off to a excellent beginning! Last night we had the Back Porch Pickers. Boy did everyone enjoy their music,  the dance floor was hopping too! On Sept. 8th will be our Gulf Coast Opry House Band, you will not won't to miss 'em.  They rock the house!  Then on Sept. 15 we will have the Modern Eldorados.  If you have not heard this band, then you are missing a great group of guys!  Be sure to join us!  We will have plenty of GREAT food, and fun.     Sorry I'm late in posting, my computer crashed and I'm trying to get everything squared away once more.  Hope everyone made it through Isaac's visit with minimum damage.  
    We will be having Karaoke tonight!  Tomorrow night (Sat. Sept. 1st) we will have the "Back Porch Pickers".  I know that some of you may not know who this group is. I can name a few of the band members,  Butch Layne, Larry Davis, Jerry McGee and Melvin Farmer.  I know that there are more, I'm just not sure who. I know that Ms. Rachelyn James from Pensacola, FL. will also be sitting in with them.  Be sure to come out, we will be having a high ole time this weekend at the Opry, you never know who will be with us!  See you there!

Do not forget  ~the waiting will soon be over, this Friday night we will have special guest Rocky McGaraity from Mississippi.  You will not want to miss his performance!  Make plans to be with us, Doors open 6 p.m.  at 7 we will begin 1 hour of Karaoke, first come first to sing, at 8 p.m. Rocky will take the stage.  Come hungry, the ladies are bringing homemade Shrimp Gumbo ($7) & Chicken Gumbo($6) served with rice, cornbread, & a drink.  We will also have all our other goodies too! Admission: A suggested $3 donation at the door, children 12 and under free when accompanied by an adult.

Friday Aug. 10th. 2012

Gearing up for another weekend of musical fun!  Tonight Karaoke, bring your neighbors and let's sing!  One day I will get the courage to sing, ~~ if only in the shower, LOL.   Then Saturday night our house band (Gulf Coast Opry Band) will be performing, so gather your friends and come on out!  We always have a great time seeing everyone, meeting new friends, and love enjoying an ice cream cone along the way ... even a hamburger sounds good too!   See you at the Opry!

What a weekend!

What an awesome time we had Friday & Saturday night!  So much coming up, lots of plans, special shows.  Big project in October, then it's on to Christmas, this is year has been jam packed with wonderful experiences and more to come!  Here's a few photos of the good times!

Had a swell time last night at Karaoke!  Getting things ready for tonight's show, can't wait to hear Al Griffin and The Country Outlaws.  Jeans, boots, cowboy hats are appropriate wear for tonight, aww heck you can dress to the nines if you want!  Head on over our way for sho nuff down home time!    Hello Everyone!  We are off to a fantastic month of music!  Karaoke tonight, lots of fun, food, and fellowship.  Terry is still on the mend so Myrtis will be host.  I have word that Terry & his Air Band will soon return.
   Saturday night August 4th Al Griffin and The Country Outlaws will be our special guest, come prepared for some toe tapping ~ 2 steppin' fun.  Ms. Mattie will be in the snack bar,  always something yummy!

Bootleggers ... July 21,12

   The week's off to a great start! It's bright and beautiful outside, right now there's no rain in sight. I'm going to remind everyone to come out to Karaoke on Friday night (July20) for a night of family fun and then on Saturday night (July21) we will have the "Bootlegger's from across the bay. It's gonna be a great night of music and 2 steppin' So load up your wagon, van, truck or car and come join us for a super weekend filled with fun! Don't forget the Bootleggers will be there now, y'all hear!  Doors open at 6pm. Fun begins at 7pm.  A suggested $3 donation, children 12 and under free when accompanied by an adult.  Concessions available ~ specials also... Home of America's Music!

It was an awesome night at the Opry! We had friends from Pensacola, Leaksville, Frankville, across the bay, man from all over! New faces, familiar faces, even a baby face. The GCO Band was serious with their music tonight ... it was out of sight! Rachelyn was on fiddle & guitar and we had a special guest Bob Taylor on the Sax ... Lots of yummy food, delicious ice cream and root beer floats ... our snack bar staff was working overtime tonight! Remember we will do it all over again next Friday & Saturday night.... 

Gonna have a Super Weekend!

    Hello Everyone!  Don't forget to come out tomorrow night (Friday July 6th)   for Karaoke!  Terry & the gang will all be there!  Why I heard that Merle, Conway, Tanya, Carrie & Loretta might show up ... who knows you might have a couple of Elvis' too.  :-)   Good food, Great friends & lots of fun!
     Saturday night our house band will be in attendance, Jerry McGee, Lou Hebert, Roger Evans, J.B. Wilson, Mattie Wilson, Gene Copeland, Shane Walker, & Jimmy Ward.  Wait a minute we can't for Rachelyn James from Pensacola, FL. will be appearing with the GCO Band as well.  We always have fun at the  Opry the 1 and only GULF COAST OPRY!   

     Wow! What a wonderful night we had at the Opry. Great music, the band was sounding fine. Ms. Rachelyn fits right in, why she is absolutely the prettiest one on stage, and the audience just loves her ~ thanks Rachelyn for joining us tonight and those who came in support. We enjoyed having you and hope to see you next weekend! Thanks to all those who worked in our snack bar ~ Ms. Mattie made some awesome Chicken & Dumplings, that's another plus, the Opry has ... amazing cooks :-) We enjoyed having our friends & family tonight, had some that we haven't seen in a long time & some we were not expecting at all, love meeting new friends! We had a truly super audience, there was lots of 2 steppin', line dancing, and yes, even the Twist. We know how to have a grand time here at the Opry~ be sure to come out next weekend and we will do it all over again!
